S.F. Farmers’ Markets: The Full List
Many years ago, I was trying to find a comprehensive list of farmers’ markets in San Francisco, as I loved visiting different markets to see the latest produce, cheeses, meats and foodstuffs for sale. But I couldn’t find them all in one place; I had to visit three different websites to compile what I think is a full list. I wanted to share what I found with you all. So, here it is. If you know of other farmers’ markets in San Francisco, or have corrections or recommendations on what’s best at these markets, please let us know through a comment or email.
UPDATED September 2017: We now live in Chicago, which has a great comprehensive list of farmers’ markets, so I’m not as up to date on San Francisco farmers’ markets (though I miss them dearly, especially in the winter!). However, as folks seem to like this list, I’ve been updating it, thanks to your comments below and great emails from industrious readers. Keep the tips coming, please!
All markets with a * are listed at the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association link below with more information.

I need to find another possible Sunday and Tuesday farmers market. if anyone knows of any in the Bay Area, you can contact me at campbellrandy98@gmail.com at any time, please and thank you.
Not sure of this site is still active, but there is now a Bayview Farmer’s Market at All Good Pizza on Jerrold Avenue Saturday mornings. 🙂
Hi! We just started a new Farmers Market in North Beach! It’s every Saturday from 9am-1pm at 699 Columbus Avenue (Columbus/Filbert). More info: http://northbeachfarmersmarket.com/
There is also the UCSF Parnassus Farmers Market Wed 10-2, near the parking garage elevators that exit on Parnassus. It’s year round rain or shine. It’s small, 3 vendors, but offers fruits, vegetables, and strawberries. Great for when you just want some solid produce and don’t need cooked food or live music.
Thanks Rob. Is it definitely still going? I found conflicting information online. Thanks for the tip.
Hi! I’m in San Francisco working until Tuesday. Someone told me there is a farmers market on embarcadero rd that has 49er things you can’t find anywhere else. Im not sure which it is though. Can you help? I was told thurs night, but can’t find any that are open then.
Hi Marianna. Sorry for the delay. I think this person is talking about the Ferry Building Farmers Market, which is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-2pm. Hope you made it there!
Buenas tardes mi nombre es lucila me gustaria participar en sus actividades .y vender mis productos q yo misma los ago .muchas grasias.
How do you undo the Google calendar?
I didn’t create it but this link tells you how to delete Google calendars: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37188?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
Hi Juliette, what are you trying to do with your calendar? If you’re trying to delete it from your device you can access the calendar settings to do that.
This is an excellent resource. Thank you!
Thank you!
Hi, thank you for updating the list. Sure comes in quite handy.
Just want to make a quick comment regarding the Stonestown Farmers’ Market. Technically, yes, it is the Stonestown Galleria parking lot, but more accurately, it’s Macy’s parking lot, behind Macy’s and City Sports Club, across from the UA Cinema.
I used to work at the mall management office and we regularly had patrons come in or call the office asking where the Farmers’ Market was at exactly. Many of the patrons tend to park in the front of the Galleria and don’t realize there is also the theater around back or more parking as well as the Nordstrom parking structure.
Thanks Will! Very helpful tip.
HI I don’t see it listed. Can you tell if it’s still going at this date?
Thanks for updating ! A great list!
Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for this super helpful list! Just wanted to note a small update: The 50 Fremont Farmers market is listed as closed for the winter, until February.
Hey Stephanie! Thanks for sharing! There were some her I didn’t know about. Come visit us at DOSA 🙂
Thanks for visiting! We now live in Chicago but used to love DOSA when we lived in SF.
very nice
For those that live in West Portal, there is the Seramonte Market I just found out about through my neighbor, who frequents it:
Thursday: 50+ farmers and vendors
Saturday: 20 farmers and vendors
TIME
Thursdays & Saturdays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Year Round
LOCATION
Serramonte Mall (behind Macy’s), 133 Serramonte Center, Daly City, CA 94015
Thanks!
Is this list still current?
I believe so. Do you see any changes we need to make?
What about the one on Market @Noe? Its every wed… Actually just found on FB: https://www.facebook.com/CastroFarmersMarket/
Yes! That is the one listed as the Castro Market. Thanks for visiting.
Thanks for this list! I hope you don’t mind if I link this on my website! (:
Of course — please do! I just ask that you credit my site. Thanks.
That is going to be a very useful listing and help us a tons. Purveyor’s market is opening in the Bay Area soon: http://www.purveyorsmarket.com
So glad. Purveyor’s Market sounds exciting. Good luck with it!
My hat is off to you for keeping this going — we being a small producer had good and no so good times at some of these markets- so being off the wall and out of the box- we bought a school bus- filled it with freezers and have MEAT CLUB EVENTS- think popup dinners. Check us out. Pastured pork CKMEATCLUB.com
Thank you for this post (and the updates despite your no longer living in the area)!!
My husband and I just moved to Daly City and have been trying to find farmers markets. It’s been quite a tedious task until I found your list!
Grateful for it, as well as the maps/calendars! 🙂 Super helpful
You bet! So glad this is helpful.
The Upper Haight Farmers Market was at risk of closing earlier this year, and sadly it has now been confirmed: It will close at the end of this month. (Aug ’15)
Dana, Thanks for the (sad) update.
Hi Stephanie, thanks so much for this post! So helpful!
You are welcome! Glad it’s helpful.
I tried several times to print out this list of FM (S.F. Farmers’ Markets: The Full List) but the print command did not respond. I don’t know if it’s a problem with my computer or printer or the web page. Thanks.
Here is the corrected url for Heart of the City farmers market
http://heartofthecity-farmersmar.squarespace.com/
Thanks for this list (and the map). it really fills a need. I’ve heard that Mint Plaza’s market went out of business. I noticed Fern Alley is not on the great map Brian made–it would be great to see it there. We’re considering hosting a market on our plaza (Grace Cathedral, Nob Hill). We’re interested in hearing if people think this is a good idea (or not).
The haight farmers market (on Stanyan) has been cancelled.
Thanks Mia.
What size spaces are available?
Jack
We would like to sell our heritage berkshire Kurobuta pork-no corn or soy commercial feeds and no antibiotics –at one or several of the farmers markets- is there room for a 12′ trailer (freezer) ?
Our meat is USDA processed. Pasture raised in Hollister Ca.
Thanks
Jack 831-320-8707
Hi Jack, I don’t run the markets — just post when and where they are — so am not sure how you would get in as a vendor. You could contact the markets listed below and ask. Good luck!
Hello Stephanie, do you know if the rotisserie chicken food stand does any other farmers market besides the one on 22nd street?
Thanks, Kim
Hi Kim, Do you mean Roli Roti? If so, here’s a link to the farmers markets at which they sell: http://www.roliroti.com/markets/intro. Good luck!
Here’s a link to the Stonestown Farmers Market: http://www.agriculturalinstitute.org/stonestown/ . It’s location is changing slightly: Across the street by the movie theatre (instead of the mall parking lot…). Thanks for continuing to update this list!
Thanks!
Heart of the city market is Wednesdays & Sundays, not Fridays.
Thanks Kevin. Apparently they temporarily closed the Friday market due to drought. I’ve updated the list.
Hi, my husband and I will be in SF in the beginning of October for the weekend. I was wondering if you know what the best farmers markets open on Saturdays and Sundays would be for things like exotic mushrooms, and other unique veggies that cost an arm and a leg in my area! Thanks in advance!
The Ferry Building is great if you’re in town from elsewhere as it’s large and has variety, both outdoors at the stands and indoors at the shops, and is fairly easy to reach. They have an exotic mushroom shop inside. The outdoor stands will have beautiful specimens of what’s in season. You can get breakfast or lunch from one of the outdoor stands or at a restaurant/takeout counter inside, and if the weather’s nice, enjoy it looking at the Bay.
If you’re feeling more adventurous you could go to Alemany, which has lots of Asian veggies and is further out in the city.
The ferry building farmers market is nice but is more expensive than others. Try the alemany if you have a car and the civic center if you are on public transit. Also, a great way to get amazing prices on exotic mushrooms in SF is to go to the asian markets in chinatown or on Clement St. in the Richmond district. New Mai Wah is one of these on Clement that has a huge selection of produce at really cheap prices. I have bought shitake mushrooms there before for only $2.99 a lb. You can get similar prices or at least much cheaper than the supermarket prices at other asian produce markets as well. Have a great trip!
On Saturdays Alemany Farmers has the best and most variety and so does Serammonte in Daly City by Macy’s reasonable prices.
Sunday we go at Stones-town good variety, good prices and very pleasant on a sunny day Also the Ferry Bldg. is super good but crowded and slightly higher prices both accessible by city transportation MUNI.
Have a good visit and enjoy it….
thanks jeffrey, churyl, eric, and augusta. i’ve updated the calendar to add the fremont market and edit the mint plaza market (and it looks like the civic center market was already updated).
good evening from berlin!
Brian- Just have to give you a big shout out for keeping the calendar updated. Hope Berlin is fun! I may go this summer to visit a friend. Any good farmers markets??
Oops, I never saw this! Berlin in the summer is amazing and there are farmers markets (and flea markets) everywhere – it’s a big part of the culture. I live next to a Turkish market which is open twice a week year-round. Did you make it out here?
Nice! I didn’t make it but hope to one day
Don’t forget the small little Farmer’s Market outside of the main Kaiser Hospital entrance on Geary every Wednesday!
Is there a fantastic market that just sells beautiful flowers?
Any ideas from readers? I would sometimes get dahlias and other flowers from the Ferry Building market.
Flower mart, it’s down near costco on 10 th st. Wholesale, retail, opens SUPER early in the am.
The Divisadero market, Sundays on Grove Street, always had great flowers, reasonably priced, right at the entrance….good variety. Bouquets or make your own.
There is a wonderful flower seller at the Fillmore market on Saturday mornings
civic center is now closed on fridays due to draught. 😦 I spoke to the manager of that farmer’s market.
Thanks for the update. Not good. 😦
Thanks for recommending the Saturday market at the Serramonte Macy’s parking lot. Went for the first time today and while it’s small, I brought home a ton of goodies (and beautiful flowers) for just $20. Posted a link to this post on my blog – hope you don’t mind(:
Thanks for visiting and glad you were able to get so many goodies for $20! Thanks for linking to my blog on yours.
mint plaza is now fri 11-3 jul 22- oct 28 http://www.mintplazasf.org/calendar.php
Thanks for the update!
Awesome informative Post! This is really very helpful to details in the Farmer’s Market. Once again Thanks for sharing!
You bet! Thanks for visiting.
There’s a farmer’s market on SFSU’s campus every Thursday (during the fall and spring semesters) from 10am-3pm. It’s not too big, and not worth traveling to, but it’s great for students on that campus.
Thanks, Carly, for the tip!
I’ve been working down at the Mint plaza since Aug 2013 & so far no farmer’s market. Huge disappointment since I was highly looking forward to it. But, food trucks are still there and the performances/bands still come around every Thursday during the summer til oct/nov
Eileen, Thanks for the update. What a bummer about no farmers market.
looks like it runs from jul 22- oct 28 now.
Hi, I hope this site can help in SF, NYC and everywhere in between: http://preview.grazeful-living.com. It’s an interactive map of markets and event listings site. For now the events list is automatically generated and the events have a bias toward food related goings on.
Thanks so much Grace!
Hi there from the Bayview Opera House!
I am writing to let you know that your second listing:
Bayview Hunters Point Farmers’ Market (SOMA/Potrero Hill) is no longer operating. Please remove it from the list.
Sorry to say-but it has been history for a while now.
We’ve had callers who found us on your blog so thank you for the exposure!
If it should reopen in the future we’ll be sure to let you know.
thanks for letting us know, rikki!
Are there any Monday markets??
There are no farmers markets on Mondays that I know of and I’ve lived here for several years. Sorry!
Yes! Monday Farmer’s Market at Fremont Plaza, downtown / SOMA between Market and Mission, between 1st and Fremont.
Nice!
Just found a monday market. http://50fremontplazafm.weebly.com/
Thanks!
Google is saying this Monday market is permanently closed, now.
There is a Farmer’s Market in Inner Richmond on Clement St, Saturdays until 2pm. This one just started fairly recently. They block off and fill Clement St from about 2nd Ave, to 6th Ave, if I recall correctly.
It’s actually on Sundays until 2pm, not Saturdays.
Thanks Selena!
Regarding the Yerba Buena market, I tried to go there last night around 5:15 and there was nothing in that area, save for a sign advertising the market which is supposed to run through 10/30 this year. My theory is that they’ve been closing up long before 6pm, despite the sign which I read about 3 times to make sure I wasn’t in the wrong spot. Anyway, I’m not usually in that area at that time so someone else might have better insight, but just FYI.
Thanks for the tip, Sus! It also looks like they’ve got different hours for the winter, so I’ve updated the calendar there.
Love this link! Looks good, but the North Beach one is in the wrong location on the google map… it’s show on market st. not north beach. 😉 It’s properly here: http://www.yelp.com/map/north-beach-farmers-market-san-francisco
Thanks JM. Brian, I know you are the master of the map…
the address is correct on the calendar but it’s an issue with google maps getting confused. i put in the cross street to help folks out!
Does anyone know if there are any Monday markets?
New Farmer’s Market now on Clement St…
http://richmondsfblog.com/2013/05/13/clement-st-farmers-market-is-near-approval-community-meeting-on-may-20/
Thanks Dave!
Thanks Dave! Looks like the start date got pushed out a bit, but perhaps someone can report back when it’s confirmed? I’ll pencil it in the calendar though.
“UPDATE 5/22/13: Lauterborn commented that “The MTA had an internal hiccup, so the hearing will be on June 13 rather than May 23, pushing back the opening to (likely) June 23.””
Farmers Market now on between 2nd and 4th on Clement!
I’ve been all 3 weeks 🙂
Nice! Thanks.
Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a
few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but
instead of that, this is magnificent blog.
An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.
Looks like the Mint Plaza market switched to Thursdays. I’ve updated the google calendar, thanks!
Thanks Brian!
Hi,
Great list. Just wanted to note that I tried to swing by the Mint Plazza farmers market today (May 3rd) and it was no where to be found. No tents, booths, food trucks, or anything that would tell me there’s a market. It was around 1 PM.
Hmm. Thanks for the tip. Anyone have intel???
Thanks, this is a great list of farmers markets for us newbies who only know of the ferry market! Thank you!
Ruth, You are welcome! Please let us know what you think of the other markets.
Thanks for putting this together
Hello Stephanie, My name is Janet and I am visiting from the East Coast. I would like to shop tomorrow (4/6/2013) at a local farmers markets. Any suggestions- I am in the South San Francisco Area and I am willing to travel. Thanks and continued good luck with your postings and sharings
Personally I would go to the Ferry Building today because it’s huge, there’s great food inside for snacking or lunch, and if it’s a sunny day there’s nothing like soaking up rays out back with a view of the Bay bridge. If you’re looking for “unusual” produce, though, Alemany is a good choice as they offer lots of Asian produce you may not otherwise see.
Inner Sunset Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 9am to 1pm, year-round. In alley between Irving and Judah and 9th Ave and 8th Ave. Very good! You can take the N Muni line there.
Does anyone know how to go about becoming a vendor or guest vendor at the farmers market in Stonestown?
Hi Stephanie- I am visiting San Francisco in a week and a half, hope to eat well and when I googled San Francisco Farmers markets, you were the top link. This is awesome. I have now subscribed!
Thanks Faye! Enjoy SF and its bounty.
Thanks Stephanie for putting this list together…. I’ve put together a map/app for markets in major cities and in my research came across the listing for NY http://www.grownyc.org/ourmarkets which looks pretty comprehensive.
Thank you so much for compiling and continuing to update this list! Now i just have to figure out how to have it show up in the search results at DuckDuckGo… It pops with Google and i prefer not using that, though, i am glad i made an exception to find this list!
You are welcome! I appreciate the diligence in finding the list.
San Francisco County Agriculture has complete list of farmers market in the City. The following Markets are no longer in operation: Bayview Hunters Point, Fern Alley, Mint Plaza, and Rincon Center
Island Earth who operated Rincon center farmers market has a new market year round at 50 Fremont,Mondays 10A-2P
Hi! Don’t forget fort mason market in the marina- Sundays 9-2
Also, CIVIC CENTER farmer’s market has added Fridays on top of Sundays and Wednesdays.
Fridays is 7am – 2:30pm
Thanks for this great list! I’ve included in the resources page on my blog: http://nourishandpreserve.wordpress.com/enlighten/?preview=true&preview_id=151&preview_nonce=8f8cb61ef2
Martine,
Great! Glad it’s useful, and thank you for spreading the word.
Thanx for the list!
Heart of the City now has a Friday Market.
there is a market in glen park on sunday. not sure of the time, but it’s over by 2pm – it is in front of the bart station in a parking lot.
Thanks for the update, Dinorah!
My wife and I are planning on moving to San Francisco and we wanted to be close to a farmer’s market. I decided to make a map to help us look for a place, but I realized we pretty much just need to live in San Francisco to be near a farmer’s market 😉
You might find the map useful, though:
http://batchgeo.com/map/60b9ec167b4e14939016e38623ad6869
Thanks Stephanie! This is a really comprehensive list and still one of the top google hits. I see you’ve moved to NYC, but I created this google calendar of all the markets and thought it’d be useful to share with others that come this way.
https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/vi1deb3dt1agmpvgogu8h2h9dc%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
Have a great day!
I almost made a Google Calendar of these markets myself! Thanks for doing this first!
Thanks a million Brian for creating the google calendar. Now I can find a farmers market almost every day, simply by tapping the calendar on my phone.
Brian, This is really awesome. Thanks for creating and sharing!
It actually works for any calendar that accepts ICS files! Very handy! Thanks for putting it together, Brian!
You should also add the Fort Mason farmers market which is on Sundays from 9:30 – 1:30. Great market
the VA at clement and 42nd has a market on wed until about 1:00
Thanks for the list. The address for the Castro market has the correct cross streets but looks like it has the address for the Bayshore- fyi.
I too love farmers’ markets and try to visit as many as possible in sf. Thank you so much for this list! I’ve also tried to find a comprehensive list, and this is the best I’ve seen.
Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words, Elizabeth! Let us know if you find others.
North Beach Farmers’ market every Sunday year round as well:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/north-beach-farmers-market-san-francisco
Thank you for all your hard work!
Rincon Center Farmers Market

don’t know if it’s year-round or not
you can find a listing of all farmer’s markets in the us through this link…
http://search.ams.usda.gov/farmersmarkets/default.aspx
good luck!
Any chance you have any Washington DC lists??!
Ahh, unfortunately not…compiling this one was actually quite tricky, and SF is very into its farmers’ markets!
This list is SO helpful! I usually just go to the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market in SF – I had no idea there were so many choices out there! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Anjali, Glad it’s helpful. I love the Noe Valley one because you can get quite a bit and it’s in our neighborhood, so very convenient. Hope you check out some of these.
Now there’s a market at Ft. Mason on Saturdays
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Do you know what time and if it’s all year round?
The Fort Mason Farmer’s Market is actually on Sundays from 9:30AM to 1:30PM. Never been to it. But you can check it out at http://www.fortmason.org/events/events-details?id=1426&start=2010-06-06&end=2010-06-06
isn’t fort mason farmers market on sundays?
thanks for this list! it is great
We actually moved to NYC so I’m not sure, but thanks for the flag!
Mission Bay Farmers’ Market at UCSF
